don't go on a persimmon diet
Went to see Margaret Cho at the Orpheum tonight. Hilarious show. She started by jumping up and shouting that the democrats won (thank god!) and everyone started cheering. I'm glad that the dems took both the House and Senate but I can't bring myself to be fully satisfied or happy yet. We lost on the marriage amendment. Half of the people in Wisconsin hate us enough to change the constitution. Whenever I see people now, in stores, or walking down the street, I wonder how they voted. And WHY they voted that way.
Anyway - it was great to laugh and be in a room with like-minded people.

Did Cho mention anything about the hate-the-gays bill that was passed, or did she kind of gloss over it? And, I know it's not that helpful, but at least you know that half the people in Dane County don't hate you.. it's just the rest of the state. So here in Madison, it's okay. Kind of. Maybe.
Which hate the gays bill? (I can't keep all of them straight...or gay...or whatever.)
Maybe Dane Co. should secede from the rest of WI and become it's own state or country or commonwealth. Or else I can just stay here in Dane Co. Who needs to go up nort' anyway?
Hey I just found you thu the randomizer
just wanted to say that would really bug me. I would feel the same way. I'm pretty happy about our laws here in Canada.
Well, I meant the one that happened here, since she was here. But, good point.
How about we just kick out everyone who voted "yes," they can go to Michigan, and then our state can be pretty AND you know, not-hateful.
good idea...maybe those folks will like it over in Michigan since they just got rid of affirmative action there, too
but hey, there's always Arizona! :)
I was shocked to hear that because my image, from previous history, was that Wisconsin was SO forward thinking on these issues. So very sad.
