I want to be an Urban Demographer when I grow up

I'm currently writing a paper explaining why a large department store should locate in the community "In Desperate Need." I am explaining Growth Pole Theory and the Political Economy Theory of Urban Growth. Urban planning major? Business? Community Development? No. Sociology. Urban Demography. BLAH.

Being the procrastinator/nerd that I am, I spent some time on census.gov seeing how "In Desperate Need" Newburgh, the old home town, is. It's pretty scary. What's even more horrifying is how you can get a map and see where certain indicators (people living below poverty line, people holding a high school diploma, foreign born, etc.) are concentrated.

9 more weeks till graduation. I haven't started a day-by-day countdown yet, it's scary enough to know that there are 9 weeks left. God.

Even though I'm dreading graduation and leaving the womb that is UW - Madison, I really want spring/summer/some type of non-snowy weather to come. I miss my Birkenstocks and my Chacos, tank tops, open windows, skirts, sailing and most of all my bike. I had to wait 25 minutes for the bus this morning (3 busses passed by before one stopped to pick us up) and arrived 20 minutes late for class. What normally would have been a 10 minute bike ride turned into a 45 minute stand-in-snow-stand-on-packed-bus event.

Oh yeah. And I didn't check the copy machines once during my 4 hour shift. oops.

Anyone know if it's illegal to make copies of your health insurance card? Some guy asked me today. (I wouldn't know because 1. I've never been asked before, 2. Who asks that, 3. Who cares, and 4. I don't even have health insurance so how the hell would I know?)
